UK Prepared to Utilize Seized Russia's Assets to Fund Ukraine's Defense

The UK is prepared to move forward with employing the entire amount of immobilized Russian holdings to bolster Ukraine's war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the Britain, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade Moscow to come to the table.

They clarified that the decision would be executed in close cooperation with the America.

British restrictions have immobilized over £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow began its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, previously, money allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russian funds had only been drawn from gains and dividends accrued on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany were in agreement in their goal to advance efforts toward using the full value of the seized Russia's state assets to end the war.

He noted that further measures over the next period would apply more pressure on Moscow.
